Holbeach Meadows offers a range of activities that appeal to our residents, regardless of interests and abilities. All activities are of course optional, but we do encourage our residents to be involved to increase their social interaction, mental stimulation and, most importantly, their enjoyment. Activities take place in groups, small task groups or one-to-one. Our dedicated Lifestyles Coordinator is an integral member of our team. They ensure monthly meetings are held with our residents to ensure that activities reflect their interests and choices.

Residents have a real say in life at Holbeach Meadows care home. Regular meetings give everyone the opportunity to suggest activities and experiences they would like to try. Which has led to new indoor games chosen by residents themselves, including miniature golf and table tennis, alongside social favourites such as our popular pub quiz evenings.

Connections with local children are a special part of life at Holbeach Meadows. Through intergenerational projects with local childminders, residents enjoy singing, crafts, sensory play and games together. Visits from William Stukeley Primary School and local preschool children also create opportunities for conversation, companionship and friendships across generations.

Animal visits bring companionship, sensory experiences and plenty of conversation to Holbeach Meadows. Residents have enjoyed regular petting party visits with rabbits, guinea pigs, cats and dogs, as well as therapy dog visits from Jessie and Freddie. A Wild Things Rescue visit also inspired residents to make bird feeders for the gardens.

Themed days bring residents, relatives and the care team together throughout the year. The care home has travelled back in time for a 1940s-themed day, celebrated International Women’s Day through stories and memories, and enjoyed a French-inspired Bastille Day with food, music, films and pétanque.

The gardens give residents another way to enjoy the changing seasons at Holbeach Meadows. Gentle walks, watching wildlife and caring for outdoor areas can all become part of the day. During our spring gardening activities, residents spent time outdoors enjoying the first signs of the new season before creating artwork inspired by the gardens.

Activities are not limited to organised events. Our residents can continue familiar routines, spend time in the gardens and take part in everyday tasks that feel purposeful to them. Life within our dedicated dementia community includes opportunities such as laying tables, folding laundry, reminiscence activities and using familiar objects to encourage conversation and involvement.
The best way to understand life at Holbeach Meadows care home is to experience it for yourself.
